Ashley Duckwitz

Apr 25, 1984 — Aug 12, 2026

Ashley Duckwitz, 42, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Ashley Christine Emelia was born to Mike and Linda (Ecker) Kronemann on April 25, 1984 in Fergus Falls, MN. Although she was an only child, she had a large extended family with many cousins that were like siblings to her.

She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. She was active with Sunday School, music, and Church Council.

Ashley graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 2002 and continued her education at M-State, completing her Associate Degree. She was planning to enter the RN program this fall.

She was employed at Kronemann Construction for many years, and in May of 2024 began working for the Minnesota Veterans Home. She enjoyed and was proud of her work there.

She was united in marriage to Justin Duckwitz on August 16, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church and they had one daughter, Atley Genevieve Duckwitz. Her greatest joy was raising Atley. They were more than mother and daughter; they were best friends. Ashley was an assistant hockey coach when Atley was in the younger leagues, and was her biggest cheerleader, not just in hockey but in everything. She loved her "mostest" and was so proud of her.

Ashley loved being outdoors in nature, walking or riding through the woods, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, hanging out at the lakes, hunting, fishing, bee keeping and caring for her dogs, cats, and birds.

Preceding her were her grandparents, Alice Ecker, and Herb and Hazel Kronemann, father-in-law, Bruce Duckwitz and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Justin; daughter, Atley; parents, Mike and Linda, mother-in-law, Nellie Duckwitz; grandfather, Phillip Ecker; sister-in-law, Bridget (Willy) Peasley and brother-in-law, Casey (Tiffany) Duckwitz; several nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
