Allan Yanske

February 7, 1952 — April 30, 2024

Allan "Al" Yanske, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at his residence.

Allan Paul Yanske was born February 7, 1952 in Viroqua, WI to Paul and Myrtle (Hooverson) Yanske. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1970. He was a farm hand, a mechanic, and a jack of all trades.

He was a member of the United States Army from 1971 to 1972, serving in the Vietnam War. Al was a member of NRA.

He loved the outdoors, cooking over an open fire, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed hunting and watching wildlife. He had a strong mechanic mind-set and loved learning about engines and working on engines of all sorts. He loved being with his five grandchildren and teaching them about the outdoors.

Preceding him in death were his father, Paul Yanske and all of his loving grandparents.

Al is survived by his children, Amanda (Blake) DeVries of Fergus Falls, McKenzie (Dustin) Stoen of Fergus Falls, Diedre Yanske (Drew VanOverbeke) of Fergus Falls, and Eli his four-legged best friend of Detroit Lakes; grandchildren, Sawyer (4), Owen (4), Sutton (3), Amara (2), and TaeLynn (1). Al loved all his grandchildren very much. He took great pride in the coin collections he gave each of them. These collections will be an amazing remembrance for his grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Myrtle Yanske; siblings, Jim (Kay) Yanske, Deb (Rick) Haun; nieces and nephew, Tracy (Chad) Thelen, Kyle Nelson, and Kaila Langrehr.

Per Al's wishes, no public services will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Arrangements provided by Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls.
