Alan Yeutter

Alan Roberts Yeutter, 77, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Alan was born on July 28, 1948, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Eugene and Ethel Yeutter. In 1952, Al and his family moved to Alexandria, Minnesota, where they owned and operated Yeutter Bakery.

Al graduated from Alexandria High School and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving five tours as a sonarman aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt SSBN-600, a George Washington class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. He later attended Mankato State University and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, earning a degree in Physical Therapy.

Alan devoted 38 years to his profession, working as a Physical Therapist at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, then moving to St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minnesota, then Lake Region Health Care in Fergus Falls where he took on the role of department manager in both locations. He also provided physical therapy services to rural care facilities throughout the region. Al retired in 2014 having acquired multiple life-long friendships and touching countless lives along the way.

While serving in the Navy in Groton, Connecticut, Alan met his bride, Carrie. They were married in November 1969 and together built a loving family with their children Jennifer, Jessica, Joseph, and Janel.

Affectionately known as "Old Man" by his family, Al was beloved for his infectious sense of humor and fun-loving spirit. His contributions to family celebrations were always memorable and filled with laughter. Anyone who has ever attended a Yeutter birthday party will never hear the "Happy Birthday Song" the same way again.

Al enjoyed travel of many kinds, including trips to the Boundary Waters, the Beartooth Mountains, the Black Hills, and countless road trips to visit family and friends.

A man with a deep heart for service and community, Al volunteered throughout his life with the School Board, Shrines, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church events, and the Fergus Falls Food Shelf. He also played trombone in the MState Band. Music held a special place in his heart, particularly in retirement.

Al delighted in the pursuit of the perfect tomato from the garden and shared his woodworking talents generously with family and friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Norman, Phillip, and Charles.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carrie; children Jennifer (Rob) Rogholt, Jessica (Seth) Hammer, Joe (Trista) Yeutter, and Janel Weishalla; grandchildren Elise, Evan, Olivia, Karley, Aceton, Aly, and Casher; his beloved Old English Bulldog, Milo; sister Kathryn Rossing; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished coworkers and friends.

In lieu of a service, memories and stories of love, friendship, and hilarity may be shared in the Olson Funeral Home guest book.

Memorials may be directed to causes close to Al's heart: the Humane Society, the Fergus Falls Food Shelf, or the Fergus Falls Veterans Home.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents of the Fergus Falls Veterans Home for their profound love and care in Al's final years. Honoring Al's military service meant.
