Steven Jerome Thompson

Steven Jerome Thompson, age 65, of Underwood, died Friday, October 14, 2016, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Steve was born on September 5, 1951, to Norris Jerome and Adeline Lucille (Aune) Thompson in Fergus Falls. He graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1969. After graduation, he attended Anoka Technical College, where he earned his AA in Business Accounting in 1973.
On October 24, 1970, Steve was united in marriage to Glenda Jane Larson at the Minnetonka Community Church in Minnetonka. In 1974, the couple moved to Underwood. Steve was a self-employed siding contractor for the last forty years, and he also managed the Underwood American Legion for twelve years.
Steve was a member of the Underwood Fire Department for around twenty years, the Underwood Jaycee’s and the Underwood Lion’s Club. He also served on the Underwood City Council. Steve loved spending time with his family and friends. He truly enjoyed playing games, whether it was cards, Scrabble, softball, or bean bags, but of course his number one choice was golf. Music was also a very important part of his life and besides being a big fan of the Beatles and blues and rock-n-roll music, he loved to play his piano.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norris Thompson; his grandparents, Norris and Cornelia Thompson and Pete and Inga Aune; and his mother and father-in-law, Franklin and Pauline Larson.
Steve is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Glenda Thompson of Underwood; a son, Creed (Patty Reich) Thompson of Underwood; a daughter, Sarah (Nate Koontz) Thompson-Koontz of Monticello; his grandchildren, Mariah (Gideon) Briard, Bryce Thompson, Amber Thompson, Derrick Koontz and Jakob Thompson; his mother, Adeline Thompson of Fergus Falls; his siblings, Keith (Connie) Thompson of St. Cloud, Kathy (Dean) Lynch of Ramsey, and Connie (Jerry) Augeson of Maple Grove; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Celebration of Life: Starting at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 21, 2016, at Marie’s Tavern in Underwood, with The Explosive Rockats playing at 7:00 PM.
