Richard "Rick" J. Olson

Richard (Rick) Jerome Olson, 75, of Fergus Falls passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Rick was born March 5, 1944, in Fargo to Rudolph and Effie (Mickelson) Olson and baptized April 23, 1944, in Casselton, ND. In his early years, he lived in Casselton and at the age of five, his family moved to Fergus Falls where he attended school and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. Rick attended Wahpeton School of Science where he studied Architectural Drafting. On April 20, 1963, he married Ardell Schoening in Fergus Falls.

Rick worked hard establishing and operating Rick Olson Masonry, which his son continues to operate today. He enjoyed his many fishing trips at the Miller Cabin in Canada and spending time at his cabin on Pickerel Lake, especially when accompanied by his family.

Rick is survived by his wife, Ardell Olson; son and best friend, Reid (Wendi) Olson, Fergus Falls; granddaughters, Taylor and Jamie Olson, both of Fargo; sister, Audrey Ellingson of Battle Lake; brother-in-law, David (Linda) Schoening of Becker; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Effie Olson, and sisters, Muriel Doty, Barbara Jaenish, Jean Henderson, and Margie Priewe.

Visitation: 12:30 p.m till the time of the service at the Olson Funeral Home
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls
