Randall "Randy" Abbott

Randall “Randy” Abbott, 64, of Erhard, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Randy was born November 14, 1954, in Fergus Falls to Orrin “Buzz” and Bessie (Davidson) Abbott. He attended grade school in District #193 and graduated from Underwood High School. Following high school he began working at West Central Turkey, Ord Trailer Manufacturer, Metro Meats and Anderson Bros., where he was a laborer for over 25 years. He purchased his first gravel truck in 1992 and leased it to Mark Sand and Gravel. In 1994 he started his own excavating business which he sold to his son in 2016 and retired because of health reasons.

Randy married Cynthia Johnson on October 17, 1975, in Sisseton, SD.

Randy loved to grill, cook and try new recipes. He enjoyed making things with wood, camping, watching the Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR and scooter rides around the woods and neighborhood. Spending time with his grandkids and attending their activities was very important to him. He was a member of the Fish Lake and Rod Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orrin “Buzz” and Bessie Abbott.

Randy is survived by his wife, Cyndi; children, Shyla Swanson (Ty Thompson) and Tyson (Alisha) Abbott; grandchildren, Zane, Zoey and Rhett; sister, JoAnn (Dave) Satter; nephews and nieces, Brad (Jean) Satter, Mike (Trisha) Satter and Tammy (Vern) Monson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Donna Johnson; brother-in-law, Todd (Cathy) Johnson; nieces and nephews, Kelsi (Justin) Miller and Jordan Johnson and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Celebration of life to follow at Amor Park, rural Battle Lake, MN
