Peter Odland, 77, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020, unexpectedly at his home.
Peter John Odland was born April 16, 1942, to John and Lillian (Anderson) Odland in Fergus Falls. He was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, both in Fergus Falls. He attended grade school at McKinley Elementary and graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High School in 1961.
On January 31, 1964, he married Virginia Fronning, they divorced in 1972. During their marriage they had two children, Mike and Carrie.
He started his working years at Modern Laundry and Cleaners with his mother, Lillian. He later was employed at One-Hour Martinizing, Kentucky Fried Chicken as a manager, and spent some time in sales. He eventually made his way back to One-Hour Martinizing and purchased the business to become the owner of Fergus Quality Dry Cleaners. He spent his retirement years working at West Central Linen, for his friends Al and Jan Owen at AJ Bar and Grill, and sold pull-tabs at Mabel Murphy’s Restaurant.
Peter enjoyed taking Ace to the park, “Sunday” driving on every day of the week, drinking diet coke, spending time and enjoying vacations with family, as well as playing slot machines at Shooting Star and Dakota Magic Casinos.
Peter was a member of the Fergus Falls Elks Lodge and Eagles Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Odland and Lillian (Anderson) and Bill Deering; numerous aunts and uncles, and a cousin, Brian Anderson.
Peter is survived by his children, Mike (Sheila) Odland and Carrie Bartels both of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Katrina (Travis) Johnson, Jeremy Bartels, Cody (Mary Bailey) Odland, Megan Odland, and Levi Odland all of Fergus Falls; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Griffin Johnson, and his furry best friend, Ace.
Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2020, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and will resume one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
Clergy: Reverend Jeff McCracken
Interment: Kongsberg Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
