Michael "Mike" Roy Norby

Michael Roy Norby, 58, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Battle Lake.

Mike was born on August 30, 1959, in Fergus Falls to Loren and La Roy Nell (Schneider) Norby. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Mike graduated from high school in Fergus Falls in 1977, then completed a year at the Fergus Falls Community College.

He worked various jobs before relocating to Corona, California, and was employed by Aircraft Spruce for 20 years. Mike then moved to Fargo and then most recently to Fergus Falls.

Mike was first united in marriage to Shannon Witt. To this union, a daughter, Jessica was born. Mike’s second marriage was to Dawn Tyson.

Mike enjoyed sports, mainly hockey and football, as well as hunting, fishing, and camping. Mike was also an excellent golfer.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Roy and Emma Schneider, Loren Sr. and Palma Norby; father, Loren Norby Jr.; daughter, Jessica Norby; and brother-in-law, Douglas Krueger.

Survivors include his mother, La Roy Nell of Fergus Falls; siblings, Loren “Chip” (Shauna) Norby III of Rogers, Martha Norby of Minneapolis, Laura LePage (Robin Urbaszewski) of Mokena, IL, Mark Norby (Yu-Chi Huang) of Richfield, and Paula Norby Krueger of Breckenridge; nieces and nephews, Andrea Norby, Luke Winskowski, Danielle LePage, Jacques LePage (also Mike’s Godchild), Amanda Eckart and Julia Eckart; aunts, Mary Louise Chapman and Patti Norby-Steenbock; special friend, Nancy Barrett and his dog, April.



Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home

Service: 1 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls

Clergy: Reverend Curt Rotto

Interment: A private family interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls
