Lois Jean Morris

August 24, 1930 — October 25, 2016

Lois Jean Morris, 86, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Foxhome, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Woodland Lodge after a courageous battle with health issues. She was a prayer warrior teaching all how to live in Faith.

She was born August 24, 1930 in Breckenridge, the daughter of Oscar & Emma (Shimek) Torkelson. She graduated from Breckenridge High School. On October 18, 1949, she married Cecil Morris at Foxhome Lutheran Church and together they celebrated over 49 years of marriage. They made their home on the farm in rural Foxhome and moved to Fergus Falls in 1990. As a stay-at-home mom, she was active in the management of the family farm for over 41 years. She considered raising four children to be her greatest accomplishment.

She was a champion for 4-H and was active along with her children for over 30 years. Lois received an award to the Wilkin County’s 4-H Hall of Fame. She was a member of Foxhome Lutheran Church for 81 years. She was involved in a working Circle for 65 years which included monthly Bible study, held offices in Circle and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Additionally, she was a member of her Homemakers Club and was a hospital volunteer.

Throughout her life, she loved spending time with her family and their four-day Fourth of July celebrations at the lake, playing cards, dancing, snowmobiling, sewing, crocheting, watching the Twins, reading and trying new recipes. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and living at The Village. Her pinochle groups brought her great enjoyment. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, she will be forever missed.

Survivors include her son Larry (Mary) of Foxhome; three daughters: Sheri (David) Goltz of Fergus Falls, Vicki (Tim) Mee and Darci (Devon) Aronson of Scottsdale Arizona; eight grandchildren: Darren (LeAnn) & Brandon Goltz, Alana (Aaron) Sakkinen; Andrea, Kevin and Travis Mee; Tanner and Ella Aronson; and four great-grandchildren; one brother Robert (Ruby) Torkelson of Fergus Falls; in-laws: Allen and Mary Morris of Fargo, LaVon Morris of Minot, Judy Torkelson of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.
