Jewel E. Kastelle

Jewel Elaine Kastelle, 86, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Jewel was born on March 10, 1930, to James Webster and Alice (Dahlager) Torgerson at home in rural Dalton. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton. She attended School District #9 in rural Dalton and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1948.
On August 6, 1950, Jewel was united in marriage to Charles Kastelle at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton. Shortly after their marriage, the couple built their home on East Cherry Avenue, residing there up to the time of her death.

Prior to her marriage, she worked for Otter Tail Power Company. After raising her family, she was the office manager for Investors Diversified Services. In 1968, the couple acquired and together operated Fergus Jobbing, until their retirement in 1985.

Jewel was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and enjoyed being active in her church and her community. She served on the church council, and was active in the local P.E.O. chapter and the Concordia 400 Club. She was a beautiful, kind woman and was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Webster and Alice Torgerson; her husband, Charles Kastelle; siblings, Wesley Torgerson, Arvid and Audrey Torgerson, Janice Torgerson and Janet and Victor Jr. Petterson; and a sister-in-law Darlene Kastelle.

Jewel is survived by her two children, Claudia (Reverend Thomas M.) Olson of Hawley and Bradley ( Trish Swetland) Kastelle of Fergus Falls; five grandchildren, Hans Olson, Leif (Amber Jacobsen) Olson, Britta Johnson, Ingrid (Jens) Gylland and Karin (Chad) Arlt; two great-grandchildren, Ryker and Elin Johnson; a sister-in-law, Bernita Darveaux, of Alexandria; brothers-in-law, George Kastelle, of Waseca, Carroll (Delores) Kastelle of Tacoma, WA and the Reverend Rodney (Arlene) Kastelle of Aberdeen WA. Along with nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation: 1:30-3:30 on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls with a public prayer service at 3:30 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
