Irving "Stub" Dewey

Irving “Stub” James Dewey, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.

He was born on July 24, 1928, in Fergus Falls, MN, to W.H. and Margaretta Dewey. As a child he attended country school at District 1405. He moved on to attend Morris Ag School and graduated in 1945.

On September 24, 1950, he married Rosemarie Moberg at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Together they had six children.

Irving worked the family farm in Western Township his entire career, retiring in 1990. He was a school board member of District 1405 country school, an Elder and member of Western Presbyterian Church, and an Associate member of Augustana Lutheran Church. On May 5, 2007, Irving married Donna Beiswanger at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Irving enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading, as well as tinkering in his shop. He loved his family, and especially loved playing with his grandchildren.

Beverly; sister, Barbara and brother-in-law George Fehrenbacher; sister-in-law, Roberta; brother-in-law, Walter Davenport; son-in-law, Steven Carlson; granddaughter, Amanda Dewey; great-grandchild, Peyton Faith Coombs; step-son-in-law, Ken Williams; step-son-in-law, Terry Vaughn; step-grandson, Justin Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Dewey of Fergus Falls; children, Douglas (Lindy) Dewey, Susan (Tom Andrews) Dewey, Karen (Laird) Carlson-Rice, Roger (Kim) Dewey, Joanne (Tim) Hanson, Rebecca (Kurt) Erlandson, all of Fergus Falls; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Dewey of California, Allen (Janet) Dewey of Mahnomen; sister, Geneva Davenport of Minneapolis; step-children, Lynn (Carol) Beiswanger of Bismarck, ND, Duane (Dawn) Beiswanger of Sioux Falls, SD, Douglas (Ilene) Beiswanger of Valley City, ND, Bruce (Nancy) Beiswanger of Sidney, MT, Marsha Williams of Underwood, Darcy Vaughan of Bismarck, ND; 14 step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren.


Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018, with a 6:30 p.m. public prayer service at Olson Funeral Home, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Ben Durbin
Interment: Western Presbyterian Church Cemetery, south of Fergus Falls, MN
