Hazel M. Jensen, 95, of Fergus Falls, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019, at LB Broen Memorial Home under the care of LB Hospice.
Hazel was born on September 4, 1923, in rural Clitherall, the daughter of Oscar and Amy (Nelson) Sandahl. She attended School in District 155. On October 10, 1954, Hazel married Willys J. Jensen at Nidaros Lutheran Church, Clitherall. They were married 47 years. Willys died in 2001.
Hazel worked at Manchester Biscuit Company in Fargo in the 1940’s. She attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis and graduated in 1950. Hazel worked as a telephone operator at the Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis and later transferred to the Bell Telephone Company in Fergus Falls. She worked as a cook at the Minnesota State College in Fergus Falls for 16 years retiring in 1985. In 2008, Hazel moved out of her home and into the River Bend Apartments.
Hazel actively taught Sunday School, attended the quilting group, and women’s circle meetings. She loved to bake and garden, along with bird watching.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Sheree (John) Dubbels of Fergus Falls and Jane (William) Armstrong of Sauk Rapids. She is survived by three grandchildren, Derek Dubbels of Fargo, ND, Rochelle Dubbels of Fargo, ND, and Amy Armstrong of Sauk Rapids; brothers-in-law, Robert Jensen and Richard Olson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Jolene; sisters, Alice (Richard) Ingle and Corrine (Richard) Knutson; brother, Orris (Marilyn) Sandahl; brothers-in-law, Roy (Edna) Jensen, Elwood (Pat) Jensen and sisters-in-law, Vivian (Bill) Miller, Myrna Olson and Shirley Jensen.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2019 at Olson Funeral Home with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls,
Clergy: Reverend Christopher Eldredge
Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls, MN
