Florence Elaine (Nelson) Mobraten, 87, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, December 4, 2020, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Florence was born January 22, 1933, to Thomas and Tena (Aaberg) Nelson in Fergus Falls, MN. She grew up on the family farm in Fergus Falls Township, attending country school and graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1951.
On September 5, 1953, she married Julius “Bud” Mobraten at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
The couple farmed in Oscar Township until 1984, at which time they moved back to Fergus Falls. She then began working at the Broen Home and the RTC as a cook for many years.
Florence was a member of Hedemarken Lutheran Church, where she belonged to Ladies Aide, and taught Sunday School. She was a 4-H Leader and a member of the Homemakers Club. After Bud entered the MN Veteran’s Home, she joined their Auxiliary where they sewed quilts and socialized.
She will be remembered as a fabulous cook, known as the resident caretaker at Pioneer, and enjoyed following their kids in their activities.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Tena; husband, Bud; sister, LaDelle Walsh; in-laws, Anna (William) Johnson, Florence (Gene) Dufty, Leland Anderson, Vince Svare, and Arthur Mobraten, and great-grandson, Asher Miller.
Florence is survived by her children, Mike (Jeanne) Mobraten of Hager City, WI, Kristine (David) Erlandson of Cosmos, MN, Lucia (Harold) Orcutt of Eden Prairie, Tom (Candance) Mobraten of Breckenridge, Bruce Mobraten of Minnetonka, and Neal Mobraten of Hastings; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy) Eckhoff, Jason (Sarah) Mobraten, Jordan (Krissy) Mobraten, Missy Phillips, Nick (Becky) Phillips, Sam (Nicci) Phillips, Yena Phillips (Jeff), Ben (Janna) Erlandson, Andrew (Melissa) Erlandson, Alex (fiancé, Meghan) Orcutt, Adam Orcutt; Cassie (Billy) Brynteson, Corey (fiancé, Taylor) Mobraten, Samantha (Kyle) Miller, TJ Mobraten, Rick Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, Macae Mobraten, and Max Mobraten; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Phyl) Nelson and Donald (Char) Nelson; in-laws, Genevieve Svare, Phyllis Anderson, Marie (Paul) Torgerson, and Dave (Nancy) Mobraten, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Hedemarken Cemetery Fund or PioneerCare Center.
