Duane Loren Pederson, 81, a resident of Underwood, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home under the care of LB Hospice, surrounded by his family.
Duane was born on August 17, 1936 on the Lars Olson farm near Underwood, MN, the son of Edward and Laura (Olson) Pederson. He attended school in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School in 1954.
On February 12, 1960, he married Christina Taylor in Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was a dedicated employee of Mark Sand and Gravel for over 30 years, as well as owning his own business, Pete and Sons Landscaping. He also served as the township road maintenance operator for several townships in the area.
He was member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church and in his younger years was a member of the Underwood Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking. He especially loved making new friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers-in-law, Berdelle Woessner and LeRoy Peterson and sister-in-law, Joyce Dickenson Pederson.
Survivors include his wife, Christina of Underwood; daughters, Kathi (Rob) Skibness of Battle Lake, Missy (Matt) Hoen of Underwood; sons, Michael (friend, Patty) Pederson and Brian Pederson all of Underwood; grandchildren, Alexis (C. J. Lofgren) of Leonard, MN, Alayna (Burgee) Boyum of Fergus Falls, Austin Skibness of Battle Lake, Robert Pederson of Gillette, WY, Chase and Hunter Pederson of Fergus Falls, Gavon and Madison Hoen of Underwood; great-grandsons, Cooper and Corbin Lofgren and a sparkling blue-eyed (which came from him) great-granddaughter, Presley Jean Boyum; sisters, Janey Woessner of Elbow Lake, LeAnn (Verlyn) Dornburg and Delores Peterson all of Underwood; brother, Larry Pederson of Portland, OR. Also surviving are special friends too numerous to mention and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
