Craig Steven Zimmerman, age 61, died Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Fargo, ND.
He was born on April 20, 1955, to Wilfred “Buddy” Burton and Avis Eleanor (Moen) Zimmerman in Fergus Falls. He was baptized at North Friborg Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rothsay.
Craig grew up on the family farm in Oscar Township. He graduated from Rothsay High School in 1973.
On July 13, 1974 Craig married Peggy Larson at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay.
In the fall of 1973 he began working for Forklifts of North Dakota in Fargo. He continued there for 33 years. Most recently he was employed by Herc-U-Lift from 2006 to the present. He also farmed in the Rothsay area.
Craig belonged to the New Life Lutheran Church and was active on the church council and committees. He was a member of the Friborg Cemetery Board and the Rothsay Town and Country Club. He taught snowmobiling safety courses for over 35 years.
He enjoyed stock car racing and snowmobiling, four-wheeling, spending time with family and friends, having coffee and debating at the Rothsay Truck Stop.
Preceding him in death was his father, Wilfred.
Surviving include his wife, Peggy of Rothsay; sons, Curt (Mandy Hanneman) Zimmerman of Rothsay, Kyle (Stephanie) Zimmerman of Chugiak, AK and Scott (Lisa) Zimmerman of Rothsay; his mother, Avis Zimmerman of Fergus Falls; grandchildren Krista, Chelsea, Hollie, Peyton and Kacyn; his sisters, Marie (Butch) Ritten, and Caren (Alan) Baumfalk, his brothers, Tom Zimmerman, Daryl (Deb) Zimmerman and Dave (Wanda) Zimmerman; his mother and father-in-law, Harold and Donna Larson; his sisters-in-law Robin (Mitch) Binstock, Bonny (Paul) Jensen, Jody (Gary) Wilde and Dawn (David) Froslie; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, MN.
