Constance "Connie" Eggen

May 21, 1942 — December 3, 2020

Constance “Connie” Joy Eggen, 78, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls due to complications of COVID-19.

Connie was born May 21, 1942, in Fergus Falls, the youngest of six children to Lloyd and Emily (Westerberg) Enderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She attended school in Fergus Falls. On March 7, 1959, Connie married Donald Eggen at Augustana Lutheran Church where they have remained members. They were blessed with four children: Penny, Wendy, Troy and Tod.

Over the years Connie was employed at the Dairy Queen, Rosenblatt’s and lastly at the Broen Memorial Home. She also assisted Don with operating the Wee Town Outlaw Speedway by managing the concession stand and everything else from scrubbing floors and ordering supplies to waiting on customers and cooking her homemade BBQ’s.

Connie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She treasured her loved ones, embraced every moment with them, and instilled early on the importance of family. The bonds she created were strong, never to be broken. She especially loved her grand and great-grandchildren. She and Justin developed an extra special relationship that was truly a rare gift for both. She loved every moment with Liam and Beckam, watching them grow and seeing them enjoy life. Connie cherished the regular gatherings with family, often including extended family and friends. She emulated love, she welcomed and embraced all. She was at the heart of every family celebration. She enjoyed holidays, housewarmings, and birthdays. At their weddings, her family, most recently her great nieces and nephews, were sure to see her there enjoying those moments with them. Connie took pleasure in baking and cooking. She always had a freshly prepared meal and a variety of leftovers and homemade salads in the refrigerator for anyone who might pop in. Taking advantage of her amazing cooking was hard to turn down. Her open door brought frequent visits from all. But more special than the food was the time spent with the woman behind it all. She was also known for her immaculate home and was always busy with some task. Connie had a vivacious personality, always making those around her smile, and making each person in her life feel special. She had the ability to see the small things and make them into something special. She shared her love with all. She will always be remembered for her love of Elvis, her little mouse knick knacks (she was actually terrified of the live version), her storytelling ability, and her unique sarcasm. She and Don loved country drives that happened to bring them by casinos where she liked to play the penny and nickel machines. She enjoyed walking around Lake Alice, exercising at New Beginnings, playing bingo and watching NASCAR races, cheering on her driver # 19, Truax Jr. Her most favorite activity was her almost daily Rummy games with Penny or Wendy, often both of them, always a $2 pay in and no mercy shown when she celebrated her winnings.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Jerry Enderson; sister, Lois Lillemon; grandparents, Anton and Nellie Enderson and John and Lucy Westerberg.
Connie is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Penny (Brad) Baglo, Wendy (Roger) Schoon, Troy and Tod all of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Stacy Schoon of Fergus Falls and Jed (Amanda) Schoon of Dilworth; great-grandchildren, Justin Dorn, Liam Schoon and Beckam Schoon; sisters, Patricia (Evertt) Norton of Gross Isle, MI, Sally Serrago of Bluffton, SC and Nancy Adair of Wahpeton, ND; sister-in-law, Doris Enderson of Fergus Falls; she will be sadly and greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
"Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go. You have made my life complete, and I love you so."
