Catherine E. Libbrecht

Catherine “Kate” Ellen Libbrecht, 105, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society.
Kate was born on May 29, 1913 to Joseph and Alvina (Anderson) Kelly of Argusville, ND. She was one of their 8 children. She attended school in Argusville and worked on the family farm.
On March 2, 1943, she married Arthur Libbrecht at St. Leo’s Church in Casselton, ND. The couple farmed near West Fargo. Kate was an avid gardener spending many hours canning fruit and vegetables. In addition to her flower garden, she enjoyed baking to satisfy the family’s inherited “Kelly sweet tooth”. She also enjoyed playing cards, rides on the 4-wheeler and snowmobile, dancing at the Eagle’s club and shopping.
She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church in West Fargo and an active member of St. Isidore’s Circle. After her heart attack in 2005, she moved to live with her daughter, Arlene. In October 2010, she moved to the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Home.
Kate was a loving, devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. Throughout her life she had a deep faith and lived her life by it.
Survivors include her son, Glen (Marilyn) Libbrecht of West Fargo, ND; three daughters, Arlene (Kenneth) Larson of Battle Lake, MN, Jean (Gerald) Reule of Thompson, ND, Ann (Stanley) Kulas of Circle Pines, MN; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society for all the loving care Kate received there.
