Arlene Tysver

July 29, 1916 — December 29, 2016

Arlene Tysver,100, passed into life eternal to join her husband Vern and her Lord and Savior on December 29, 2016, at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls, MN.

Arlene was born in Manyaska, MN on July 29, 1916, to Wilbur Myers and Mary Grace Holmes Myers. She was the youngest of eight children, and at the age of three, her family moved to a farm near Hazen, ND. She graduated from high school in 1933 and married Vern Tysver on October 21, 1934. They were farmers in Sisseton, SD, until 1942, when they moved to the state of Washington where Vern worked in the shipyards. They eventually moved from Washington to Amor, MN, to return to farming, and then later moved to Fergus Falls, where both Vern and Arlene were employed by the Regional Treatment Center. Arlene worked there for 29 years before retiring in December, 1980.

Vern and Arlene built their dream log cabin on East Lost Lake, outside of Fergus Falls, where they lived and entertained friends and held family gatherings several years before moving back to town.

She was a devoted Minnesota Twins fan and loved watching or listening to all of their games, even if it was past her bedtime. She was a highly feared and revered Bingo player, enjoyed gardening and flowers, cards, crocheting, and making her famous dill pickles. She was a member of TOPS for 30 years being recorder for most of that time. She loved reading, and as her eye sight failed, enjoyed the many stories read to her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, all her siblings, husband, Vern, and two sons, Dennis and Gary Tysver.

Arlene is the mother of two surviving daughters, Shirley (Tom) McManus of Palm Desert, CA and Pam (Richard) Peterson of Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter in law, Cinda (Dennis)Tysver; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, in addition to many nephews, nieces and special friends.

She continues to be loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The love and caring she received from hospice and at Woodland Lodge will never be forgotten.

A memorial service is being scheduled for a later date. Olson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
