Eugene Stenstrom

Eugene Stenstrom, 80, a resident of Fergus Falls, sadly passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. He was born on April 8, 1929 in Elizabeth Township, the son of Gabriel and Anna (Formo) Stenstrom.  Eugene enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.  On March 17, 1951, he married Doris A. McCrossin in Webster, SD. They were married for 52 years before the loss of Doris on March 16, 2003. Gene worked as a transmission mechanic for Nash and Shur Ford. In 1980 he and his wife were co-owners of Pebble Lake Auto Repair in Fergus Falls. They retired when the business was sold.  Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes and playing a good game of cards with family and friends. Anyone who knew him loved to hear his jokes and stories. With heavy hearts he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Doris; sister, Lorraine Rylander and brothers, Vernon, Robert, Arthur Stenstrom; father-in-law, William McCrossin; brothers-in-law, Glenn Rylander, Merle Briggs, Duane McCrossin, Regis Gatz Sr.; sisters-in-law, Audrey Stenstrom and Gail Paulson and nephew, Robert McCrossin. Survivors include his daughters, Deb (Myron) Graff of Fergus Falls and Dawn (Jeff) Hanson of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Lance (Lois) Graff, Kelli Graff, Nicole Graff, Nicholas Hanson, Amanda Hanson; great-grandchildren, Cassie, Patience, Joey and Cadie Graff, Kailey Graff, Hope Haarstad and Danica Aasberg; sister, Pearl Briggs of Washington; brothers, Clifford (Marjorie) Stenstrom of Fergus Falls, Alvin (June) Stenstrom of Florida; mother-in-law, Anna McCrossin of Fergus Falls, sisters-in-law, Darlene Stenstrom of Arden Hills, Alice Stenstrom of Fergus Falls, Mary Stenstrom of Michigan, Beverly Gatz of Fergus Falls, Yvonne McCrossin of Ohio; brother-in-law, Sanford Paulson of Fergus Falls. Gene also leaves behind several special nieces, nephews, relatives and friend. He also leaves behind his “beloved” little dog, Annie. Visitation:   4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a public prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.    Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.  Funeral service: 1 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls Clergy:  Reverend Kate Bruns Burial:   Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
