When Grief is ComplicatedThursday, May 04, 2017 : 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM
10 to 20 percent of individuals who encounter loss experience more disabling reactions, including complicated grief or other conditions triggered by the loss, such as PTSD. This program examines how to identify complicated grief reactions and when referrals to specifically trained professionals may be indicated and necessary. This educational program combines presentations by experts with video, discussion, and complimentary learning materials. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions of panelists at the end of the program. There is no charge for attending this program. For full program details visit www.HospiceFoundation.org. CEU credits available. Register by May 1, 2017 by calling (218) 998-1400.
Conversation with KellyThursday, May 11, 2017 : 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
With community and parish support, the Our Lady of Victory Stephen Ministry group is bringing social worker, Kelly Grosklags, to OLV on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 p.m. The talk is titled "Honoring Your Feelings After a Loss" and will include discussion on grief, guilt and post-traumatic stress followed by a question and answer time.
A limited number of scholarship tickets are available only until April 18. Please contact Barb Rick at (218) 739-9428 to sign up.
For nearly 25 years Kelly has dedicated her Minneapolis-based practice to minimizing suffering through her work in oncology, palliative care and hospice. An experienced therapist and gifted speaker, Kelly created “Conversations with Kelly” as a public healing forum to broaden her reach as a psychotherapist, social worker and healer for patients and families.
By walking the sacred walk with people experiencing deep human loss, Kelly Grosklags created Conversations with Kelly (CWK) for a powerful purpose: to alleviate suffering. Anyone who has experienced a significant loss in their life is invited to attend this workshop. Tickets are $ 23 plus a small processing fee. Tickets available on the website www.eventbrite.com under "Honoring Your Feelings After a Loss".
CWK was born out of Kelly’s childhood encounter with grief, coupled with a life-long passion for building communities of healing. Kelly’s 20+ years as a clinical practitioner has expanded to teaching, writing and now engaging with live audiences through storytelling, dialogue and music.
Today Kelly’s message of hope and healing celebrates the power of coming together, where patients, survivors, friends, family, providers and caregivers unite in an intimate forum dedicated to creating positive change.
CWK gives each participant a comforting opportunity to share and discover ideas and insights about the range of human emotion.
