Sylvia Elizabeth Molstre

Sylvia Elizabeth Molstre, age 104, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Sylvia was born on August 24, 1911, to John and Alvina (Eggler) Steiger in Rochester, MN. She attended grade school in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School. After graduation, she attended junior college in Rochester.

On June 3, 1939, Sylvia married Harry Molstre at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. Prior to their marriage, she worked in the business office at Mayo Clinic for three years. After they were married, she partnered with her husband, who was a pastor, serving churches in Washington, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northern and Southern Minnesota, and North Dakota. In 1972, they moved to Fergus Falls where she worked in food service at the Broen Home for thirteen years. She volunteered for the Senior Companion Program at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls for fourteen years, serving fifty-four clients during that time.

Sylvia was a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, volunteer work, knitting, walking, bible studies and praying for her over sixty family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alvina Steiger; her husband, Harry Molstre; a son, James Morris Molstre; an infant daughter, Rachel Alvina Molstre; and her brothers, Earl Steiger, George Steiger and Casper Steiger.

Sylvia is survived by her three sons, David (Sandra) Molstre of Temecula, CA, Paul (Judy) Molstre of Owatonna, and John (Joanne) Molstre of Moorhead; twelve grandchildren, Benjamin Molstre, Carolyn Delange, James Molstre, Kathryn Allen, Kristina Ralston, Mark Molstre, Mary Beth Patterson, Matthew Molstre, Michael Molstre, Renita Wold, Stephanie Molstre-Kotz and Stephen Molstre; thirty-three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Service: 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
