Ronald Marvin Fitzner

Ronald Marvin Fitzner, 72, a resident of Fergus Falls, went home to the Lord Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was surrounded by his family at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Ron was born on August 23, 1945, to Marvin Martin Waldemer and Elaine (Kosek) Fitzner in New Ulm.
He graduated from St. Paul Academy in 1963, and then attended Concordia College in St. Paul.
On February 20, 1971, Ron married Lois Eldora Timian at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They resided in the cities of New Ulm and Alexandria, before moving to Fergus Falls in the mid 1970’s.
He became employed at Archie’s in 1978 until its closing in 2009. In 2011, Ron started working at Shopko until March of 2017, when he left due to health concerns.
Ron loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed walking, hiking, church league softball, attending local sporting events, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as Church President, Elder, and was also involved with Stephen Ministries.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Marvin and Elaine Fitzner; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Donald Peterson; brother, Michael Fitzner; brothers-in-law, Earl Blank, Dennis Fogelberg, Curtis Ronsberg; sister-in-law, Marilyn Fitzner; niece, Elizabeth Fitzner; and father/mother-in-law, Eldor and Frances Timian.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Fergus Falls; children, Brenda (Josh) Keilen of Fergus Falls, Jennifer (Matthew) Lindemeier of Norwood, Brian (Jenny) Fitzner of Foxhome, Maggie (Kenny) Nash of East Grand Forks; grandchildren, Makenna, Daniel, Josiah, Micah; brother, John Fitzner of Mankato; sisters, Kathy Blank of Nicollet, Mary (Harlan) Blank of Nicollet, Nancy Fogelberg of Clear Lake, Cindy Fitzner of Truman; brother-in-law, Paul (Connie) Timian of Alpine, CA; sister-in-law, Barb Ronsberg of Hawley.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend John Christensen and Reverend Noah Rogness
Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls
