Robert "Bob" Clayton Rude

Robert “Bob” Clayton Rude, 87, a resident of Dalton, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
He was born on October 23, 1927, in Dalton, MN, the son of Hans Andreas and Tilda Johanna (Brenden) Rude. Bob was baptized on November 20, 1927 and confirmed on September 28, 1941. Bob attended Dalton Elementary School and Fergus Falls High School, receiving his GED in 1947.
Bob was enlisted into the United States Navy in 1946, serving in the Philippines until he was discharged in 1948. He received a Victory Medal Philippine Independence for his service.
On June 21, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Verna Caroline Olson at First Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, MN.
He worked as a mechanic at Rude Garage in Dalton, Ford Garage in Parker’s Prairie and Packard Garage in Rochester, and was also a salesman for Sun Electric. In 1954 Bob became the owner/operator of Rude Garage until 1987. He then worked part-time at the municipal store in Dalton.
Bob was a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Church in Dalton, and was also a member of the Dalton Lions, Dalton Fire Department and the Ashby American Legion.
He enjoyed bowling in the men’s league and in mixed doubles. Bob also enjoyed ski jumping, dancing, and absolutely loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Preceding him in death were his parents; baby daughter Rude; siblings, Alvin (Amanda) Rude; Oscar (Magna) Rude; Kalmer (Mamie) Rude; Herbert (Lillian) Rude; Justin Rude; Goodwin (Lillian) Rude; LeRoy (Beatrice) Rude; Helen (Robert) Adams; Ralph Rude; brothers-in-law, Don Adams, Clifford Weisser; mother-in-law, Emma Olson.
Bob is survived by his wife, Verna of Fergus Falls; children, Harvey Rude of Loveland, CO, Ronnie (Gwen) Rude of Port Orchard, WA, Sandra (Paul) Fosse of Rothsay, MN, Wanda (Daniel) Cassidy of Eyota, MN, Andrew Rude of Elbow Lake; grandchildren, Christopher (Nicky) Schaub, Ronni (Rich) Wolfe, Allison (Frank) Timpone, Trista (Russ) Schlick, Nicholas (Kim) Fosse, Jasen (Kiki Dennis) Schaub, Jessica (Matt) Brien, Daniel (Maddie Stanforth) Rude, Jenna Rude, Benjamin (Katie Trenda) Rude, Zachery (Marlee Waldrop) Fosse, Dana Rude, Jessie G. Rude, Dawson Rude; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Collin, Tyson, Jaylee, Delaney, Emmitt, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Lorelei, Calvin, Addie, Morgan; sister, Arlene Weisser; brother-in-law, Ardon (Lovera) Olson.
