Rev. Raymond Finsaas

Reverend Raymond O.G. Finsaas, 88, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Lewistown, MT passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls.
Raymond was born January 1, 1926 near Schafer, ND to Olaf and Julia (Aarhus) Finsaas. He attended school in Fairview, ND and graduated from Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta. He was ordained with the Conservative Baptist Church.
Ray married Myrtle Dahl on April 3, 1952. They worked with the American Sunday School Union in central Montana. In 1957 they went to Zimbabwe, Africa as missionaries with the Evangelical Alliance Mission. Ray worked in church planting and was a superintendent of schools. He built mission homes and churches. In 1972 they returned to the states where Ray pastored churches in Minnesota and Montana. They moved to Fergus Falls in 2008, Ray was a gifted craftsman – he could fix anything. He enjoyed working in his shop doing carpentry, welding and mechanics. He was also a musician with a beautiful voice and played guitar and autoharp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; his parents, Olaf and Julia Finsaas; brothers, Clarence, Joe, Lloyd, Norman, Marvin and Ernie.
He is survived by five children, Ruth (David) Kojetin of Lavina, MT, Joy (Duane) Lindgren of Fergus Falls, Nadynne (Tom) Dziura of Big Lake, Raymond A. (LeAnna) of Papua, New Guinea and Jewel (Jim) Venman of Kalispell, MT; 10 grandchildren, Karl (Bryn) Kojetin, Nick Kojetin, Jon (Carissa) Lindgren, Angela Dziura, Andrew and Kristen Finsaas, Peter, Alisa, Kaitlyn and Joshua Venman; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Carson, Colton and Teegan; brother, Orvin (Judy) Finsaas of Fairview, MT; sister, Lila (Kenny) Joseph of Fullerton, CA.
