Lorise R Hume

Lorise R. Hume, 95, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Lorise was born on May 4, 1921 in Hancock, MN, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Gumto) Erickson.

She grew up in Cyrus, where she attended school and was confirmed in Starbuck, MN. After her schooling, she worked for various families as a housekeeper.

May 24, 1940, she married Russell Knutson. The couple had seven children and Lorise was a mom and homemaker, raising her family in Starbuck.

In 1971 she married Mervin Hume. They moved to the Fergus Falls area in the late 1970’s.
Lorise enjoyed plants, flowers, gardening, cooking, baseball, reading, embroidery and loved to be around her family especially her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were parents, Albert and Ida Erickson; husbands, Russell Knutson and Mervin Hume; son, Bruce Knutson; four sisters, Ethel, Harriet, Sally, Cleo; son-in-law, David Nitti.

She is survived by her children, Paulette (David) Henrikson of Eden Prairie, Dennis (Jackie) Knutson of Bemidji, Judy Knutson-Nitti of CA, Joan Knutson of WA, Boni (Dick) Behnen of Richmond, MN., David Knutson (Brenda Kulzer) of Fergus Falls; 11-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home
