Leasa J. Larson

Leasa Jean Larson, 55, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away on December 16, 2014 at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND amongst friends and family.

Leasa was born June 21, 1959 in Haywarden, IA to Leo and Doris (Jacobs) Larson.
She grew up on the family farm near Alcester, SD until moving to Big Stone City, SD with her family. She graduated from Ortonville High School in Ortonville, MN in 1977. In 1981 she gave birth to her only child, Matthew. She worked hard to raise her son by herself by working at various health care jobs.

In her mid-thirties she began to develop illnesses that would eventually confine her to a wheelchair in her forties. Though her body continued to decline in health her spirit only grew stronger. This was evident to all of those who came to know her. A selfless and kind woman who loved her son very much. She cared more about others than her own condition. No matter the medical condition she was in, she still managed to smile. Illnesses that doctors thought she couldn’t survive she overcame with her immense willpower time and time again. On December 16th she finally lost the fight. She is gone but will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched, especially her son.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Doris, brother-in-law Donald Van Buskirk, and nephew Jason Van Buskirk.

She is survived by her stepfather Dennis Redford of Big Stone City, SD; her son Matthew Larson of Sauk Centre, MN; her brother Blake (Roxanne) Larson of Akron, IA; her two sisters: Rhonda Van Buskirk of Columbus, NE and Marlene (Jerry) Wetrosky of Alcester, SD; five nieces: Janel Miller, Rachelle Carlson, Sarah Van Buskirk, Amanda Larson, and Heather Hongslo; her nephew David Larson, as well as other family and friends

Visitation: 3-5 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 with a 4 p.m. prayer service at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Union Creek Lutheran Church in West Akron, IA.
Clergy: Pastor Mike Voorhees and Reverend Carla Nelson
Interment: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester, SD
