Janice A. Anderson

Janice (Mrs. Merle) Anderson, 73, of Erhard, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Lake Region Healthcare, Fergus Falls.

She was born January 12, 1941, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of E. O. “Pinky” and Minda (Grimstad) Peterson. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls.

On October 11, 1957, she married Merle R. Anderson. After their marriage, the family lived in Fergus Falls, Vancouver, Washington and settled in Erhard in 1972. They owned and operated the Anderson Grocery Store in Erhard and Rothsay. Janice began working at Fleet Farm in Fergus Falls in 1999 and continued to work there up until her death.

Janice enjoyed horses, camping, visits with friends and especially loved her grandchildren. She held a special bond with her grandchildren and they felt they could always confide in her.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Merle; infant twin daughters, Lori Ann and Lenae Joy; her parents, a brother, Gordy Peterson and two brothers-in-law, Dale and Everett Anderson.

Survivors include her children, Wanda (Mike) Norman of Fergus Falls, Steven (Jennifer) Anderson of Erhard, Susan (Scott) Stengrim of Elizabeth, Jeffrey (Diane) Anderson of Erhard and Mindy Jo (Joshua) Peterson of Erhard; grandchildren, Justin, Kelsey (Andy), Kayla, Brianna, Cody, Keidra, Zachary (Lacey), Alison, Emily, Dustin, Reed, Lillyanne, Brody and Bria; great-grandsons, Izic, Preston and Mason; a brother, Marvin (Lucille) Peterson of Vancouver, WA; in-laws Arlen (JoAnn) Anderson of Erhard, Marlene Anderson of Fergus Falls, Gary (Mary) Anderson of Vancouver, WA, Roger (Cheryl) Anderson of Fergus Falls, Janice L. Anderson of Fergus Falls and Lucy Peterson of Vancouver, WA; numerous nieces and nephews; many adopted grandchildren who called her Granny Janny; amazing friends who were as close as sisters, JoNelle, Marlene and Diane and special cat companions, Missy and Abby.

Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 12:30 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
