Elaine M. Erickson-Bowyer

Elaine Margaret Erickson-Bowyer, 98, a resident of Breckenridge, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, MN.

Elaine was born on October 18, 1916, in Western Township, the daughter of Elmer and Emily (Berquist) Munson. She attended country school District #56 and graduated from Washington High School in 1935. She then attended Brady & Rogers Cosmetology School in Minneapolis and graduated in 1937. She worked as a beautician for several years after.

On September 8, 1940 she married Milton Erickson at Western Presbyterian Church. The couple resided in Western Township where they operated the Erickson farm and raised their 2 daughters, Marilyn and Marcia.

On May 3, 1991, she married Clem Bowyer in South Dakota. The couple resided in Fergus Falls, until Clem’s death in 2002.

Elaine was a member of the Federated church in Fergus Falls and the United Methodist Church of Breckenridge. She was previously a member of Western Presbyterian church, where she was active in Ladies Aid and also the Bradford Homemakers Club.

She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards, and in later years, listening to books on tape. She also enjoyed the winters she spent in Arizona and the time she spent traveling throughout the United States including Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Milton and Clem; son-in-law, Robert Dohman and brother, Curtis Munson.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Erickson-Dohman of Breckenridge, Marcia Erickson of Breckenridge; step children, Craig (Sue) Bowyer of Gatzke, Dean (Cheri) Bowyer of Mankato, Don (Jeanie) Bowyer of Burnsville; grandchildren, Michael (Tammie) Dohman, Todd (Marcy) Dohman, Troy (Cheryl) Dohman, Stephanie (Bruce Johnson) Mattis; granddog, Athena; step grandchildren, Kerri (Jeff) Byl, Ryen (Asha) Bowyer, Heidi (Dean) LoRash-Neuenschwander, Peter (Trisha) Goede, Robin (John) Tinker, Teresa Bowyer, Allison (Alex) Hualde, Shane (Laura) Bowyer, Deana (Jerry) Olszewski; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Courtney Dohman, Shelby Dohman, Cody (Krista) Lohse, Angela Lohse, Anthony, Danielle, Makenna, Corey and Carson Dohman, Christopher and Amber Mattis; step great grandchildren, Lillibeth and Benjamin Neuenschwander, Logan and Larissa Byl, Addison Hualde, Matias Goede, Austin and Gabrielle Bowyer, Jet, Jersey and J.J. Olszewski; great-great grandchildren, Kylee, Ayden, Uriah, Ryker; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Munson of Mesa, AZ.

Memorials preferred to Western Presbyterian Cemetery Fund or United Methodist Church of Breckenridge.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at United Methodist Church of Breckenridge, Breckenridge, MN
Clergy: Reverend Mark Gronseth and Pastor Craig Bowyer
Burial: Western Presbyterian Church, Western Towship, rural Fergus Falls, MN
