Clayton Truman Hanson, 86, a resident of Fergus Falls, MN, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls.
Clayton was born June 14, 1927 in Underwood, MN to Herman B. and Clara (Enemark) Hanson. He was baptized in Underwood, MN and grew up in Dehli, MN, attending school and was confirmed at Rock Dell Lutheran Church, in Dehli on May 31, 1942.
In September 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific as a Fireman 2nd Class, and was discharged in June 1946. In September 1950, he was drafted into the U.S. Army as a Corporal, and was discharged in June 1952.
On May 12, 1956, Clayton married Deloris Ardelle Johnson at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton, MN. He was employed at Elbow Lake School District #263, working for 13 years as head custodian, while also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake for 22 years, actively serving as head usher and on the building committee.
In 1988, they moved to Minneapolis and Clayton worked as caretaker and assistant manager at various apartments and condos, while also a member of Central Lutheran Church for 11 years.
They then moved to Fergus Falls in 1998, where he delivered flowers for Wild Rose and enjoyed the people he met. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church since 1999, the American Legion, Ashby #357 since 1953, and the Eagles of Fergus Falls.
He dearly loved his family and was much beloved by his family and friends.
Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Clara; son, Mark; brothers, Homer and Reuben; and sisters, Eleanora and Claire.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris of Fergus Falls; daughter, Debra (Scott) Falk of Wahpeton, ND; brother, Pete of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Joyce (Dallas) Monson of Fargo, ND, Darlene Wilwant of Venice, FL, and Dorothy Schwartz of McFarland, WI; grandchildren, Nicole (Lee) Dennis, Christopher Falk, and Samantha (Brett) Wagner; great-grandchildren, Pedro, Victor, Addyson, Jocelyn; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Augustana Lutheran Church, with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. then resumes one hour prior to service at the church
