Arlene Katherine Jensen

December 16, 1932 — November 1, 2015

Arlene Katherine Jensen, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 1, 2015, at her home.

She was born on December 16, 1932, to Dewey G. and Daisy (Bugbee) Miller in Erhard. She attended elementary school in District 187 and graduated from Washington High School in Fergus Falls in 1951.

On January 22, 1954, Arlene was married to Stanley E. Jensen in Webster, SD. Together they had five children. She was a special education paraprofessional from 1978 to 1994 with School Districts 544 and 935.

Arlene was a faithful and active member of Stavanger Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Her devotion and love to her family was evident throughout her lifetime.

Mom enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, cooking, needlework, crossword puzzles and Jeopardy, but most of all, entertaining family and friends. Mom kept an organized and spotless farm home, everything had a place and everything was in its place by days end. The garden she and dad raised was well cared for, free of weeds; the produce bountiful and offered to anyone and everyone who visited. By summer’s end, her canning shelves were full, beautiful, and photo worthy; the freezer was full. Mom loved to sew and she was a stickler for a straight seam in any garment she created. Mom’s coffee pot was always on and the cookie jar was never empty of homemade cookies. When company came you better be prepared to stay for a meal, a farm meal, and you never left her home hungry. That gave her great pride, and her grandchildren will tell you how true that is. She loved to embroider and she did her best to make sure her children and grandchildren had dishtowels embellished with their favorite embroidered themes. Her work crossword puzzle dictionary attests to a favored activity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Daisy; three brothers, Dale Miller, Darrell Miller and Bruce Harrington; a sister-in-law, Joanne Miller; and a son-in-law, Gary Foltz.

Arlene is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Stanley Jensen of Fergus Falls; her five children, Terry (Pam) Jensen of Dawson, Janelle (Craig) Scheidecker of Fergus Falls, Julie Foltz of Grand Forks, Lori (Rollie) Mann of Battle Lake and Mark (Lori) Jensen of Fergus Falls; eleven grandchildren, Katie (Chase) Johansen, Allyson Jensen, Madolyn Jensen, Joseph (Beth) Scheidecker, Adam Scheidecker, Holly Foltz, Garrett Foltz, Brianna (Kenny Mitchell) Mann, Richie (Kat) Mann, Amanda Jensen and Jesse (Jay) Mark; eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Sophia and Makayla Trosdahl, Clara, Maggie and Jaynie Mark, Ava Scheidecker and Ever Mann; her siblings, Rollis “Rod” (Luella) Miller, Clem Miller, Harold (Betty) Miller; two sisters-in-law, Romayne Harrington and Doris Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
