Anita B. Jennen

July 12, 1924 — October 26, 2014

Anita B. Jennen, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls.

Anita was born July 12, 1924 in Breckenridge, MN, to Carlo and Emma (Zamani) Giorgini. As an infant she moved with her family to Otter Tail County. She attended country school in Districts 182 and 29. Anita graduated from Fergus Falls High School with the class of 1942, and worked at Production Credit and Kilde’s Garage for five years as a bookkeeper.

On May 30, 1947, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Jennen at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls. They farmed on Robert’s home farm until 1954, when they bought their farm in Carlisle Township, where they raised their family. Robert and Anita moved into Fergus Falls in 2000 when they retired.

Anita was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, where she served as Stewardship Chairman for many years. She was also a member of St. Rose Mission Circle, Minnesota TOPS 400, and the Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary. Anita was a volunteer at Lake Region Hospital and the Red Cross Blood Mobile where she was a loyal donor. She and Robert together also delivered Meals on Wheels.

She enjoyed roller-skating, dancing, and playing cards, especially playing Bridge with her friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Gathering around the table was essential to her and she was known for her pasta, capplette, lefse, cinnamon rolls and cookies.

She was an ambitious farmwife, gardener, and homemaker. Over the years she kept busy with projects and hobbies that ranged from hand tinting family photographs with oils to making multiple afghans for her children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Norman Giorgini and Marion “Tony” Giorgini; and sister-in-law, Eileen Giorgini.

Anita is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert of Fergus Falls; children, Daniel (Lynette) Jennen of Fergus Falls, Barbara (David) Nelson of New Albany, OH, David (Bonnie) Jennen of Erhard, JoAnn Jennen of Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Bradley) Babcock, Annette (Darrin) Johnson, Philip (Jessica) Jennen, Dominic Jennen, Robert Nelson, Tyler Nelson, Michelle Jennen, Stephanie Miksche, Michael Miksche; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Pat Giorgini of West St. Paul. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
